Welcome!  I’m the author of the critically acclaimed and bestselling novels The Killing Sea, about the Asian tsunami that stunned the world, and Bones of the Dark Moon, a contemporary tale exploring Bali’s 1965 mass killings, as well as other gripping books.  My stories have won numerous international prizes and awards.

I was born and raised in Bali, Indonesia, where I still live.  I received my higher education in the United States.   As a boy growing up in a small Balinese town, the pace of life was measured by sunrise and sunset, the market every third day, and the faint mysterious echoes at night of a distant gamelan gong.  I entertained myself by swimming in the surf and playing in the rice fields and flying kites and reading books, lots of books, all the books I could get my hands on. It was only natural I started writing stories, too.

(I’m also available for editorial work — from original content creation to a copyedit polish of your final draft.  I help write what you want to say so people will listen).
